Short-listed three times for Canada’s Governor General’s Literary Award for Translation, most recently for Stolen Sisters, Susan Ouriou won that same award in 2009 for Pieces of Me by Charlotte Gingras. Four of her translations have been selected for the International Board on Books for Youth (IBBY) honour list over the years: Naomi and Mrs. Lumbago, This Side of the Sky, Pieces of Me and Jane, the Fox and Me (co-translated with Christelle Morelli).

Susan’s first novel Damselfish was short-listed for the City of Calgary W.O. Mitchell Best Book Award and the Writers Guild of Alberta Georges Bugnet Award for Fiction. Her short story “Violette Bicyclette” won the 2009 Western Canadian Magazines award for fiction.

Honorable mention from the Women in Film and Television Association (WIFTA) for the 2-minute video short "No Matter What Life Holds," a music video based on the song "The Shower," also by Susan Ouriou
